To do well in computer skills it is really important to every assignment. It is also important to go above and beyond on assignments to get a good grade.

website
I really enjoyed looking at everyone's websites. I think that it is really neat that we were able to make such good websites. I really liked Brittany's website. She had a really neat animation that linked to her mailbox. I also liked how she used the favorite things song on her favorites page. Another one of my favorite websites was Andrew's. He had a really creative idea to relate different facilities at Trinity to his experience here. It was informative yet had a personal touch to it. He also had a very nice picture of the bell tower as a background on all of his slides. I also really liked Alisa's website. I loved how she used a bulletin board as her navigation bar. She also did a very good job of thouroughly explaining all of her pictures.

HTML
It is important for web designers to know html code. Even though there are many advanced programs that they can use, they might need to write their own code to specialize their page or if the program does not do something that they want to do. Designers should also know how to read html code so they can look at other people's pages and use their ideas. It is always important to know the basics of what you are doing. For example, you must know how to add numbers before you learn complicated algebra.

Powerpoint Presentations
I really liked Leigh-Anne's presentation. It was especially interesting for me because I am considering majoring in marketing. The video helped convey here subject very well. I also like Max's presentation. He did a very good job of not reading from his slides and holding the audiences attention. He had a very creative animation of a jumping fish that he inserted in a picture of a fountain.

Powerpoint
I thought that the tips for using powerpoints were very helpful and will come in handy for powerpoint presentations in other classes. I already knew most of the information but some of it was completely new to me. I never realized that it is bad to use clipart or the provided templates. My top five tips for powerpoint presentations are:
1. Don't put too many words on each slide
2. Make sure that all fonts are legible
3. Use the same background for all slides
4. Be organized
5. Don't use too much animation

Searching the Internet
I learned alot from Chris Nolan's presentation. This information he presented will be extremely helpful in all of my classes in the future. The most interesting thing that I learned was that there is something called the invisible web. The invisible web is information that is online that can't be accessed by search engines. It makes up more than 70% of the information that is online. I never realized that there was anything that could not be accessed by search engines.

Copyright Laws
I learned a lot about copyright laws in class. I was especially interested in how copyright laws apply to downloading music from the internet. I never realized how serious this was or how easy it is to break the law. Using any kind of music that you don't pay for is illegal, you have to at least pay a subscription fee for it to be legal. According to the RIAA Web site: “global music piracy causes $12.5 billion of economic losses every year, 71,060 U.S. jobs lost, a loss of $2.7 billion in workers’ earnings, and a loss of $422 million in tax revenues” There is debate among musicians about whether online downloading should be illegal or not. Supporters of the laws think that online downloading makes them lose money and the other side thinks that online downloading gives them more exposure.

Excel
Before this class I only had basic knowledge of how to use excel. I think the most useful thing about excel that I have learned is to how to format the cells to make the spreadsheet look prettier. I think this also makes the spreadsheet look more proffessional. I'm sure that I will use excel in alot of my classes in the future. Since I'm probably going to major in business it will be extremely useful. I'm going to use my new found knowledge of excel to help keep track of my spending.

Photo Retouching
I chose the the photograph of the smoke rising from the buildings in the Lebanese capital. I chose this picture because I thought that the editing in this photograph was the most harmful. The picture was taken by Adnan Hajj in August 2006 after an Israeli air raid. Hajj added more smoke to the photograph and made the smoke look darker. He did this to make the destruction look more dramatic. I think that this manipulation is harmful because it misinforms the American public and could influence our views on the international issues.

Trinity's Network
I hardly ever use the wireless network here at Trinity. I mainly use my laptop in my room, so I have it plugged into the wall. There have been times when I have needed to use the wireless network and it is so nice that it is available throughout campus. I think that it is a huge academic help because it allows professors to communicate with students 24 hours a day.
This article describes how wired different campuses are.

Microsoft Word 2007
I would like to think that I was fairly proficient at using the older versions of microsoft word. I learned how to complete most tasks in word in my high school computer class. However, this all changed when I started at Trinity. I found that I had to relearn most of this information because my laptop has the newer version of microsoft office 2007. Throughout last semester I figured out the basics of Microsoft word 2007. At least enough for me to get by in my classes. I would like to review the shortcuts to accomplish different tasks and how to create different tab stops.

Backup Plan
If my computer didn't work at 9:00 the night before my computer skills assignment was due I would go to the computer lab in Beze underground and complete my assignment there. The lab is open 24 hours a day so I would be able to use the computers in there as late as needed.
